"New" Organic Henna For the Brows

UPDATE with before and after pics.

With so many new offerings it was challenging to pick the first to talk about. I decided since I have been talking about brow henna for the longest time and super excited to have found a wonderful product that this is where I am going to start.

Our eyes are truly the windows to our soul...and our eyebrow are the frames. Many of us suffer with sparse, light and grey hairs that take away the opportunity to put our best eyes forward. It has always amazed me how much such a little part of our body can make a huge difference in our appearance and confidence. One of the reasons I really enjoy offering services that create correct shape and color for my clients. Up until now I have used the same safe dye I have used on the eyelashes (gosh, that's and thats been at least for 25 years!) and wished for a product that would fill in the brows and last longer. Learning about henna for the brows a few years back, I have carefully been researching the options to bring to you a better option at the studio.

Staining Ibrow henna gives you the opportunity to have expressive eyebrows & camouflage gaps in over-tweezed eyebrows or brows with sparse hair.

Pros-

• Henna brows tint and stain the skin giving you a more fuller, 3D effect.

• It's great for those that have sparse or over plucked brows

• Henna brows can encourage hair to grow back fuller in all the right places

• It contains less chemicals and harsh ingredients so is a great option for sensitive skin

• It will last on the hairs for up to 6 weeks which is almost twice as long as regular tint

• Henna can tint the skin anywhere from 2-10 days

• Henna takes beautifully to grey hairs

Cons -

• The oiler your skin, the less the skin stain will last

• You will need to clean around your brows. The more you can leave them alone and not touch them, the longer the skin stain will last.

• Henna will not last as long with any skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis.

• For best results, the more brow hair the better. People with very little brow hair would not see as long lasting results

What's the difference between regular tint and henna brows?

Regular eyebrow tint will only tint the hairs and lasts anywhere from 2-4 weeks. It is great for those that are happy with their eyebrow shape and don't require any other shaping.

Henna brows produce longer lasting results. Lasting up to 6 weeks on the hairs, it also tints the skin which is great if you would like a better shape to your brows. It fills in anywhere you have gaps.

Do I need a patch test?

Yes, absolutely! The patch test needs to be done at least 48 hours before treatment, but the good news is, I can do a patch test anytime you come in for a service, or you are welcome to come by for a free test.

A little info about Henna...

Henna brows are a natural alternative to traditional eyebrow coloring. Traditional eyebrow tints are primarily made of chemicals while most henna brow products are made of natural plant-based ingredients including Lewsonia Insermis aka – henna, a flowering plant commonly used to dye skin, hair and fingernails.

Henna is a flowering plant that has been used to dye hair, skin, and clothes for thousands of years. The plant can be found in the subtropical region of Asia, Africa, and northern Australia. India, in particular, has a rich history with henna and cultivates the most high-quality henna crops in the world. The crops are then processed and used to make body art tattoo and to make henna hair dye. I just learned that Henna can also be used on men's beards! Considering that for a service down the road.

With a henna brow product, like Mina, you are getting a product that is made with 75% organic plant-based ingredients, contains no lead or ammonia, is vegan-friendly, and requires no chemicals or oxidants to activate, only warm water. This means it’s safer for clients AND for spa professionals.

Plus, unlike traditional chemical-based tints that dry out or damage eyebrows, henna brows coats the hair locking in moisture keeping hair healthy and hydrated which often encourages hair growth.

One of the other key benefits of henna brows compared to a traditional eyebrow tint is the fact henna brows not only dye the eyebrow but it is also a brow filler. The henna stains the skin beneath the brows for up to a week (actually I am finding the Mina product is lasting closer to 3 with extra care) with the tint lasting on the eyebrows for 6-8 weeks.

With regards to how long the henna lasts on the skin, it really depends on the client’s skin type. Clients with oily complexions or in humid climates may find the stain on the skin does not last as long due to the fact their skin will not hold onto the dye for as long. While we love the fact henna stains the skin the true benefit of henna brows is that it is a far superior eyebrow tint. I will of course go over home care tips to help you get the best long lasting results.

I hope this has given you a good idea of what Henna is and why I am so happy to be now offering this service. If you'd like to know anything else about henna brows, get in touch or schedule a patch test and I'll be more than happy to answer any of your questions.

Until next time, wishing you Peace & Health!

Lisa Catherine
